School of Nursing and Health Sciences Scholarships, Grants, and Student Loans

Scholarships

The School of Nursing and Health Sciences is committed to providing qualified nurses with a quality education. All applicants to nursing master’s degree and post-master’s certificate programs are automatically evaluated for available North Park scholarships.

These scholarships are awarded based on your academic performance during your bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) program; they will not be awarded based on your academic work during the completion of your graduate studies.

True cumulative GPA for all your BSN coursework will be calculated by North Park based on your official BSN transcript, taken into consideration every class and its grade, including grades earned on courses that have been accepted for transfer credit by the BSN degree-conferring school, and we will determine whether you qualify for one of the following academic scholarships:

Delores Johnson Founders Scholarship

The Delores Johnson Founders scholarship provides a 35% tuition reduction to students who are full-time employees of a 501(c) organization or a local, state, or federal government agency. No scholarship application is required, but eligibility must be verified in writing on the organization’s letterhead. The scholarship is awarded upon admission and written confirmation of eligibility.

Presidential Scholarship

The Presidential Scholarship provides a 30% tuition reduction to students with a true cumulative BSN grade point average of 3.50 or higher (on a 4.00 scale). This scholarship is renewable throughout your graduate nursing program as long as you maintain a GPA of 3.00 at North Park. Students receiving full tuition assistance from their employers are not eligible for this award; it is the University’s policy that North Park-provided financial aid cannot exceed the cost of tuition for a term.

Dean’s Scholarship

The Dean’s Scholarship provides a 15% tuition reduction to students with a true cumulative BSN grade point average of between 3.30 and 3.49 (on a 4.00 scale). This scholarship is renewable throughout your graduate nursing program as long as you maintain a GPA of 3.00 at North Park. Students receiving full tuition assistance from their employers are not eligible; it is the University’s policy that North Park-provided financial aid cannot exceed the cost of tuition for a term.

  • To be eligible for the discount, students must complete an employee verification form available in the Human Resources Department of Swedish Hospital.
  • Full-time eligible employees of Swedish Hospital who enroll in a degree program at North Park are awarded a blanket tuition reduction, which represents the full amount of financial aid available from North Park. This discount will not be combined with other North Park grants and scholarships available to other students.
  • Continued employment will be verified annually by North Park University’s Financial Aid Office.

Alumni Grant

Our North Park University undergraduate alumni can enroll in graduate coursework with a 20% tuition reduction thanks to the University’s Alumni Grant. This grant may be used for individual courses or a whole program, for in-person or online courses. This grant cannot be combined with any other scholarships or discounts that may be offered to you from North Park.

Additional Options

Graduate students in the School of Nursing may also be eligible for veteran’s benefits or other outside scholarships. The University also provides information about using your employer tuition reimbursement benefits.

Student Loans

Many graduate students borrow student loans to pay for master’s degrees. All student loans must be repaid; most federal student loans are at a significantly lower interest than other private loans.

In order to explore options for student loans, you must complete a FAFSA for each academic year you want loan funding. Generally, you will start loan repayment six months after you graduate or leave school.

*The Direct Entry Master of Science in Nursing program is not eligible for North Park tuition discounts or scholarships.
